Fjällkartan does not collect, store or share any personal data. There is no account, no sign-up, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.
If you grant location access, your position is used solely to draw your location on the map on your device. It is never transmitted, never stored and never shared with us or anyone else. You can decline location access and the app remains fully usable.
The following stays on your device and is never sent anywhere:
Deleting the app removes all of it.
If you are signed in to iCloud, your saved routes and saved pins are stored in your personal iCloud Drive so they stay available across your devices. This sync is handled entirely by Apple's iCloud service — Fjällkartan has no server of its own, and we cannot see, access or receive this data. If you are not signed in to iCloud, or choose not to allow it, saved routes and pins stay only on your device. You can manage or turn off this iCloud storage at any time in your device's Settings.
Map imagery is supplied by the national mapping agencies of Norway and Sweden. When the app is online and needs a map tile it has not already downloaded, it requests that tile directly from:
As with any request to a web server, those agencies receive your device's IP address and the coordinates of the map tile requested. We do not control those servers and receive nothing from them. Downloading an area for offline use avoids these requests entirely while you are in that area.
The app is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, including children.
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with a new date.
